James Crowley (Book, Music & Lyrics)

A native of Los Angeles, California, James Crowley began his work in the theatre at the age of six and has been acting, singing, writing, producing, directing and otherwise working ever since. He developed his musical skills early in life and as a result, has become an accomplished singer and performer of both the operatic and musical theatre repertoire in addition to his accomplishments as a composer.

His musical theatre composer and lyricist credits include 14th Avenue, Benjamin - An American Opera and The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. James has also written several straight plays including Benny Farrel Was Murdered? and The Secret of Pepper Park.

Mr. Crowley has been Artist-in-Residence with Creighton Elementary School District in Phoenix since the Fall of 2001 and has assisted dozens of middle school students in the creation and production of their own musical theatre works.

James is also a co-founder of the American Theatre Institute, a non-profit organization committed to the preservation of historical works and promotion of new works in theatre. Mr. Crowley is a member of The Dramatists Guild of America, American Guild of Musical Artists, and Actors' Equity Association.
